I was commissioned to illustrate large scale permanent illustrations for the Al Maha Boys Academy and Al Maha Girls Academy. These illustrations tell historical stories of famous inventors, scientists, astrologers, mathematicians, astronomers, polymaths and mechanical engineers. The illustrations were used on the exterior and interior of the buildings. The exterior illustrations varied in size but the largest of Mariam al-Asturlabi measures 45 metres x 9 metres. Lots of the other illustrations were used in the corridors of the buildings and measured around 33 metres long by 3 metres high.
Here is just a small selection of the work that was created.
Some of the illustrations were used with a canvas texture overlaid.
The images below show how the illustrations look in the academies. They were used in the swimming pool, gymnasium, cafeteria, washroom, corridors and on the outside of the buildings.
